Writer and Analyst – Defence & National Security

Alex received his MA in Political Science and Modern History from Leipzig University in Germany in 2006, before settling in Australia permanently in 2010.

For the last four years Alex has extensively covered the evolution and new developments of the Chinese Navy (PLAN) for defence media Naval News, in addition to important programmes for the Royal Australian Navy. Since 2025 Alex Luck also writes for the German defence publication Hartpunkt on critical security developments in the Indo-Pacific region.

Residing in Brisbane, Alex regularly attends notable maritime-related events, including the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exhibition in Sydney, IODS in Perth and IMDEX in Singapore.
